Why Is Artist Development Crucial In an Overloaded Market?
CEO of Generator, Hannah Matterson, kindly gave up her afternoon to chat to us about how she champions artists and creatives in the North East, to take the next steps in their career development and adopt digital practises.
This discussion takes us back to highlighting how the constant rise in new technologies is affecting how we work and how ultimately new platforms are causing a digital divide across the music industry. This has been amplified over the last year, with access to necessary equipment to work and socialise, wifi and a quiet space, being a privilege. It is estimated that digital poverty is affecting 52% of women and 42% of men worldwide, so there is a need to understand and address these strains.
Hannah and I explore how to empower and connect talent in areas that are socio-economically disadvantaged and diving into some programmes that support artist development in this uncertain economy. As well as digging into the benefits of artist services!
